Weeping, 2016 20 (41,8 x 29,7) cm China Ink on paper In this group of drawings, there is an undetermined and expanded repetition that could last forever. The central shape is formed by two figures. Elliptical forms evoke rain or eyes turned up, both referring to tears and weeping. But also surfaces of liquids where sadness and melancholy seem to sound like an insistent echo. A self-referential process also shows the permanent and continuous flux of drawing process conditions. Repeated forms in patterns with regular rhythms, but also with different dimensions and intensities. In Weeping the effect of synesthesia is also explored by the reference to the sounds of weeping, and rain and by the suggestion of ripples in the water. This noise, or humming, emphasizes the pattern in vibrating pulses. (I) |
