Perimeter, V20, 2019 China Ink on paper 4 (50 x 65) cm As in the previous series of the same name, these drawings result from the stamping of tubes with China Ink. The effect blends industrial and anonymous languages, with accidental ink stains. Something dysfunctional seems to be going on, maybe an accident or a catastrophe, as if some machine became malfunctioned. The insistent sequence of circles, in irregular and impulsive alignment, surrounded by casual stains, expresses a movement towards disorder. Unlike series such as those exhibited in Affluent Exhibition (2018), where the subject matter dealt with natural patterns, the Perimeter series assumes a standardized expression, alluding to industrial objects and surfaces. The stamping process looks like mechanical and automatic actions, and the shapes are impersonal. (I) «« |
