Distance #2, 2020 2 (65,2 x 50,3 cm) China Ink marker on Cotton Paper As in the earlier work Distance 1, in this group, Cláudia Amandi applied a specific drawing process as a way to create the picture. This principle, articulated in the use of a square, worn felt pens and the support itself, is based on the rule of producing vertical strokes perpendicular to the bottom margin of the sheet until a general coverage is obtained. In the upper and lower margins, the lines are loaded and create shadows. As usual in these drawings made by Cláudia Amandi, the process is abstract but opens room for some figurative shapes, like landscapes. But, such as Distance 1, the main concept of the work closes in itself the relationship between materials, instruments, and surfaces. (I) |
